Yoga with Sophy

Everyone should have a little time in their daily life that is solely for themselves. Where there is nobody wanting anything from you. Now, wouldn’t that be nice?!
Yoga with Sophy gives you an opportunity to switch off from the outside world and provide yourself with a little self-care.
Our approach
I believe yoga should be accessible and inclusive. It should be about how your body feels, not just how it looks. Whether you are a total beginner or have been practising for a while, I encourage you to move with curiosity, move intuitively, and listen to your body.
You’ll connect your body to your breath, bringing you into the present moment where you have nothing else to do and nowhere else to be. My classes provide a fun, relaxed and uplifting space where you can truly be yourself. Aiming for improvement, not perfection.

What we offer you
Yoga gives back to the mind and body what everyday life and stresses take away.

What we'll cover
Our weekly classes are Hatha-focused and are often themed around seasons, chakras, lunar cycles, emotions or areas of the body. We start with a gentle warm-up, often setting a personalised intention for your practice.
We move through movement, focusing on aligning the body and mind by holding poses and synchronising our breath, to flowing gently to stretch and strengthen. We close our practice with a time for stillness and reflection, often with a guided meditation.

About Sophy
I started practising Yoga over 10 years ago alongside gym sessions to build strength and flexibility, but I soon began to see the positive effect it had on my state of mind. I found myself moving away from the gym and into the studio more and more until yoga became part of my daily routine. Having experienced firsthand the benefits yoga can bring to both body and mind, I decided to train as a yoga instructor to share my journey. I completed my 200-hour training with Yoga Alliance Professionals in Bath. I have also trained in both Restorative and Menopause Yoga.

The benefits of yoga
Yoga is not just an exercise for the body. Whilst it strengthens the body, improving balance, flexibility and mobility, it is so much more. Yoga fosters a deep mind and body connection by using physical postures (asanas), breathing techniques (pranayama) and meditation to unite mental, physical and emotional states. By focusing on the connection between your movement and your breath, you will become more self-aware, reduce your stress levels, calm your mind and improve your emotional regulation.
